Political Prostitution

There have been many stories and TV specials about the hard life of street prostitutes. Unlike the “high class” whore who serviced Elliot Spitzer, New York's former Attorney General, street walkers will not likely get their own reality show any time soon.
Unlike their counterparts in the United States Congress, the most these lowest of the lowest prostitutes can hope to get is another fix to keep them going just a little bit longer and a relatively safe place to sleep for the night.

The prostitutes walking the city's seedy streets do not know if their next customer is merely a scum sucking politician looking for an opportunity to screw over another citizen, or a psycho.

One thing about prostitution, it is a profession that does not seem to suffer during recession whether they work the streets or the halls of congress.

As long as they do their jobs, service their clients and stay out of the sunlight, chances are they can keep their jobs for as long as they like, or until they die.

So here are two levels of prostitution. The ones that are honest about what they do and the ones who use legal language and obfuscation to cover just how much money they have taken from various well heeled clients.

On rare occasions, when the political prostitutes are called on the carpet, metaphorically speaking, such as Mary L. Landrieu, Senator from Louisiana, they hold up their heads and in that smug, arrogant way so many of them have perfected, defiantly say, so I'm screwing citizens by selling my vote. So what?

So Miz Mary, acting quite contrary, came out in the light of day, not to try to defend herself for being a political prostitute, but to set the amount of what she was getting paid straight. It was three times the one million dollars originally reported.

In this season of good will I would like to wish all the low level prostitutes a Very Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year. You will never be raising our taxes or hustling clients behind closed doors. You are right out there on the street being open and honest about your profession.
These low level prostitutes are also honest about how much it will cost, up front. If their clients want more frills they will tell them how much it will cost and give them the option as to whether they want the additional services or not.

To the congressional prostitutes, I wish you a lump of coal in you pricy silk sock. You are dishonest about what you do, you do it behind closed doors hoping nobody will find out how much you are charging the taxpayers to give extra services to your special clients who pay you a bundle to screw taxpayers.

I was going to say you could burn the coal for warmth but remembered you, as political prostitutes, want to get rid of coal, (as well as oil, gas and nuclear generators) in the name of global warming, another one of you horrendous screw jobs on the taxpayers.

Never mind. I just remembered the rules you make for others do not apply to you.
